Privacy & cookiesHadrian's Wall is the famous line on the map, but Roman soldiers and roads extended beyond it. This trailer introduces Mark's search for Bremenium, the fort at High Rochester in Northumberland, and asks why a formidable northern outpost is much less familiar than the Wall itself.
A trailer offers a glimpse rather than the whole investigation. The attraction here is the journey into a landscape where Roman remains, later Border history and modern imagination meet.
Beyond the famous frontier
Bremenium guarded a route through the hills north of Hadrian's Wall. The fort's position makes more sense when you imagine movement between the Roman military zone and the lands beyond. Its history should be read through the archaeology, rather than through later legends alone.
