Privacy & cookiesBefore the archive grew into hundreds of films and stories, its purpose could be put simply: go to the places, ask what happened there and share the discovery. This short promotional film captures that invitation as it stood in 2018.
It is an archive item, not a statement of today's tour dates or booking arrangements. What still comes through is Mark's curiosity about the Borderlands and his wish to take viewers beyond familiar postcard views.
The project behind the camera
Discover Scottish Borders follows places through history, folklore, landscape and everyday life. One film might begin at a ruined tower; another with a river, an old road or a question about a family name. The archive lets those journeys connect.
Read about the project, browse the film archive or see the current Tours site if you want to explore with Mark in person.
