Old Melrose WW2 Bunker

This bunker is nestled not too far off the A68 at Old Melrose.

Bunkers of this type were scattered around the UK and in recent times many have been discovered in the Scottish Borders. This one was found recently due to a tree uprooting itself in windy conditions.

The bunker its self would have been used by anti-Nazi resistance fighters if the invasion ever happened. Their job role was to hide out and conduct sabotage and espionage behind the enemy lines.

These men would have good knowledge of the area, be very able bodied and probably draw from the civilian population.

Unfortunately at the time of visit both entrances are sealed up so no access inside is possible.
