Spring reaches the Tweed in small signs before it becomes a season you can name. There is a change in the light, fresh movement along the banks and a feeling that the river is waking up. Mark gathered wildlife and scenery near Melrose into this film collage in 2017.

There is no need to hurry it. The pleasure lies in watching a familiar place closely enough to see the season arrive.

The landscape between stories

Historic places are often approached through dates and names, but the living landscape is what holds them together. The Tweed runs past settlements, fields and routes that recur throughout the Borders archive. A film like this gives that setting a story of its own.
